Phonics and Phonemics

In order for students to be able to decode and break apart words into sounds, they must know the sounds that certain letters make. This will increase their reading and writing levels. These should be practiced on a daily basis.

Classroom Ditties!
(Below are some little ditties we use in our class to help us learn. Please use these at home when helping your child)

1. long vowel words ending in silent "e" (cake, bake, lake, bike, ride)
The "e" tells the "(insert vowel here)" to say it's alphabet letter name, (insert alphabet letter sound here)

2. words with 2 vowels side by side (nail, mail, read)
The last one(last vowel)  walks away and doesn't say a word. The first one (first vowel) says it's alphabet letter and looooveeesss to he heard!

Online Practice (blends, digraphs, vowels)

(online practice and printable blends letters, i.e. matching cards, picture cards)

(stories to read that incorporate blends and vowels)

Online Vowel/Blends Games

(lots of games for blends, vowels, CVC words, and high frequency words)

(blends, digraphs, long and short vowels)
